Our Process

1. Get A Quote

Contact us to discuss your shed slab size, design, and finish. We will provide a detailed quote will outline costs, materials, and the expected timeline.

2. Site Preparation

The area is cleared of grass, debris, and old concrete if needed. The ground is then excavated and leveled to create a strong, stable base for the new shed slab.

3. Base Preperation

A layer of compacted gravel or crushed rock is added for support. Steel mesh or rebar reinforcement is installed to strengthen the concrete and prevent future cracks.

4. Formworking

Timber or metal formwork is set in place to define the shed slab’s shape. Expansion joints are added to allow natural movement, preventing cracks over time.

5. Pouring & Finising

Concrete is poured, spread, and leveled for a smooth surface. Depending on the finish, it is brushed, exposed, smudged, or coloured to achieve the desired look.

6. Curing & Sealing

The concrete cures for at least 7 days, with moisture control to prevent cracks. A protective sealer is applied to enhance durability and resist stains or wear.

Concrete Shed Slabs FAQ's

How Long Does A Shed Slab Last?

A well-installed and maintained shed slab can last 30 to 50 years, depending on the quality of the concrete, reinforcement, and environmental factors.

For most garden sheds, a 100mm (4 inches) thick slab is sufficient. For heavy-duty sheds or machinery, 125-150mm (5-6 inches) with reinforcement is recommended.

Lightweight storage is fine after 48 hours, but for heavy items, machinery, or vehicles, it’s best to wait 7 days for the concrete to fully cure.

  • Plain Concrete – A smooth and durable basic finish.
  • Brushed Concrete – Textured for added grip and durability.
  • Exposed Concrete – Decorative with visible stones for a stylish look.
  • Smudged Concrete – A hand-textured finish for a natural, unique surface.
  • Coloured Concrete – Pigmented concrete to enhance aesthetics and match surroundings.

Keep it clean and free of debris, reseal every 2-3 years, and avoid using harsh chemicals or heavy impacts that could cause surface damage.

Use reinforcement like steel mesh or rebar, ensure proper ground preparation, and include control joints to allow for natural expansion and contraction.

It’s possible, but proper leveling, reinforcement, and curing are crucial. A professional install ensures long-lasting strength and prevents costly mistakes.

Prices vary, but expect to pay $75-$120 per square metre, depending on thickness, reinforcement, and site preparation needs.
