Our Process

1. Get A Quote

Contact us to discuss your driveway size, design, and finish. We will provide a detailed quote will outline costs, materials, and the expected timeline.

2. Site Preparation

The area is cleared of grass, debris, and old concrete if needed. The ground is then excavated and leveled to create a strong, stable base for the new driveway.

3. Base Preperation

A layer of compacted gravel or crushed rock is added for support. Steel mesh or rebar reinforcement is installed to strengthen the concrete and prevent future cracks.

4. Formworking

Timber or metal formwork is set in place to define the driveway’s shape. Expansion joints are added to allow natural movement, preventing cracks over time.

5. Pouring & Finising

Concrete is poured, spread, and leveled for a smooth surface. Depending on the finish, it is brushed, exposed, smudged, or coloured to achieve the desired look.

6. Curing & Sealing

The concrete cures for at least 7 days, with moisture control to prevent cracks. A protective sealer is applied to enhance durability and resist stains or wear.

Concrete Driveway FAQ's

How Long Does A Concrete Driveway Last?

A well-installed and maintained concrete driveway can last 30 to 40 years or more. Factors like climate, proper sealing, and regular maintenance affect longevity.

The recommended thickness for a standard residential concrete driveway is 100mm (4 inches). For heavier vehicles or frequent truck traffic, 125-150mm (5-6 inches) is preferred.

Concrete typically requires 7 days to cure before you can drive on it. However, light foot traffic is usually okay after 24-48 hours.

Concrete driveways come in various finishes to suit different styles and needs:

  • Plain Concrete – A smooth and simple finish for a clean look.
  • Brushed Concrete – Textured with brush strokes for added grip and slip resistance.
  • Exposed Concrete – A decorative finish with small stones exposed for a stylish, modern look.
  • Smudged Concrete – A unique, hand-textured finish for a natural aesthetic.
  • Coloured Concrete – Pigments added to the concrete mix for a custom colour that enhances curb appeal.
  • Seal it every 2-3 years to protect against stains and cracks.
  • Clean regularly with a mild detergent and water.
  • Avoid de-icing salts, which can damage the surface in cold climates.
  • Use control joints to allow for expansion.
  • Ensure a properly compacted base before pouring concrete.
  • Avoid excessive water in the concrete mix.
  • Apply a good-quality sealer to protect from weather damage.

While it’s possible, installing a driveway requires proper grading, reinforcement, and curing. Professional installation ensures a long-lasting, crack-free surface.

Prices vary depending on location, size, thickness, and finish, but generally, $75-$150 per square metre is a good estimate for standard residential concrete driveways. Please use our Driveway Cost Calculator to get a closer estimate or Contact Us for a fixed price quote.
