Our Process

1. Get A Quote

Contact us to discuss your footpath size, design, and finish. We will provide a detailed quote will outline costs, materials, and the expected timeline.

2. Site Preparation

The area is cleared of grass, debris, and old concrete if needed. The ground is then excavated and leveled to create a strong, stable base for the new footpath.

3. Base Preperation

A layer of compacted gravel or crushed rock is added for support. Steel mesh or rebar reinforcement is installed to strengthen the concrete and prevent future cracks.

4. Formworking

Timber or metal formwork is set in place to define the footpath’s shape. Expansion joints are added to allow natural movement, preventing cracks over time.

5. Pouring & Finising

Concrete is poured, spread, and leveled for a smooth surface. Depending on the finish, it is brushed, exposed, smudged, or coloured to achieve the desired look.

6. Curing & Sealing

The concrete cures for at least 7 days, with moisture control to prevent cracks. A protective sealer is applied to enhance durability and resist stains or wear.

Concrete Footpath FAQ's

How Long Does A Concrete Footpath Last?

A properly installed footpath can last 30 to 50 years, depending on environmental factors, concrete quality, and regular maintenance.

A standard footpath should be 75-100mm (3-4 inches) thick. If it will bear heavier loads, such as bicycles or light vehicles, 100-125mm (4-5 inches) with reinforcement is recommended.

Light foot traffic is fine after 24-48 hours, but for heavy loads like wheelbarrows or equipment, waiting 5-7 days is ideal.

  • Plain Concrete – Smooth, durable, and cost-effective.
  • Brushed Concrete – Textured for extra grip and slip resistance.
  • Exposed Concrete – Decorative finish with visible stones for a modern look.
  • Smudged Concrete – A hand-textured surface for a natural, organic feel.
  • Coloured Concrete – Custom pigmented concrete to enhance aesthetics.

Regularly sweep and wash to remove dirt, reseal every 2-3 years, and avoid using harsh chemicals that may weaken the surface.

Use control joints to allow for expansion, reinforce with mesh or rebar, and ensure a properly compacted base before pouring the concrete.

Yes, but proper grading, leveling, and curing are essential. Hiring a professional ensures a smooth, durable finish with fewer risks of cracks or uneven surfaces.

The cost depends on size and finish, but expect to pay $60-$120 per square metre, including materials, labour, and site preparation.
